Tomorrow's Palms: Ellis Farms in Desert Center

In 2007 we expanded our growing operations to 155 acres in Desert Center, California.

This exciting project even attracted the attention of California's Gold host Huell Howser, who visited us recently and toured the farm with our sales manager Cherie Harris.

Thanks to the hard work and outstanding planning of our production manager, John Hogan, Ellis Farms Desert Center has already become an industry model for desert palm production.

With some 50,000 of our signature Washingtonia palms already growing in the fields in Desert Center, we know we will be able to provide our customers with an even broader range of sizes at cutting edge prices.

Reuben Ellis to Present Palm Seminar

Ellis Farms Vice President Reuben Ellis will present the seminar

"Best Conditions for Palm Varieties" on November 4 at the 2009 Landscape Expo/"Design-Build-Maintain" at the Long Beach Convention Center.

Palms are a central element in countless coastal and inland landscapes, but what makes a really great palm landscape?

Using palms effectively requires the integration of all three core functions of effective landscape development: design concept, installation, and long-term maintenance. By focusing on several commonly used varieties of palms, this seminar shows how the finest palm landscapes are based on one simple principle: creating and maintaining the best possible growing conditions.

The seminar carries 1 APLD-CEU credit for landscape professionals. It is scheduled for 11:30-12:30.

Reuben Ellis has worked in farming and the nursery industry since 1978. He is also an adjunct graduate faculty member for Prescott College in Prescott, Arizona.

The Landscape Expo will run from 9:00 to 2:30 November 4 and 5. To learn more about the seminar and the show, go to: www.landscapeonline.com.

Cherie Harris to Feature Cold Hardy Palms at the UNLA in Utah

Ellis Farms offers a specialty line of

cold-hardy palms that has expanded our

customer base outside the southern

California area.

We are particularly pleased that so many

of these tough and beautiful palms have

been placed in southern Utah landscapes.

To get to know the plant community in southern Utah even better, our sales Manager, Cherie Harris, will be exhibiting at the upcoming 2009 Southern Utah Green Conference and Trade Show in St. George November 4-5.

Sponsored by the Utah Nursery and Landscape Association, conference seminars will provide green industry professionals with continuing education opportunities and a chance to learn more about products and services offered by vendors like us.

Ellis Farms cold-hardy palms include: Trachycarpus fortunei, Chamaerops humilis (both the green and cerifera varieties), and Butia capitata.

Check out the conference at: www.utahgreen.org.

Fall Price Promotion Attract Orders

On October 7, we announced our Fall 2009 price promotion.

We are now discounting all our quality plant products 20%.

Some plants are available at even greater discounts. Queen palms and Phoenix roebelenii are now 50% off.

In addition, customers at our weekly "Open House Friday" at Ellis Farms Pauma Valley will receive an additional 5% off any plants they order and tag.

These outstanding prices have already attracted a lot of interest.

Thanks to all our great customers, we are able to offer all the quality and service you have come to expect from Ellis Farms at even greater value.
